We're excited to announce that our recent collaboration with Mystic Seaport Museum is now open to the public!

"Sargent, Whistler, & Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano" is a traveling exhibit that brings to life the Venetian glass revival of the late nineteenth century and the artistic experimentation the city inspired for visiting artists.

If you're in the Mystic, CT area between now and February 2023, we hope you can check it out!

A Little Messy

Sometimes life gets a little messy... but it's for a good cause!

Jason and his daughter Winnie recently participated in a mud run as part of an educational non-profit fundraiser. The money raised was to support Thrive Outside which promotes outdoor educational activities for kids!

Doing Research

Chris and Kathy are off doing the research they love!

This week, they stopped at Army Heritage Trail and Education Center that shows WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam war through the eyes of the soldiers.

Next stop was a fantastic architectural fun round barn with a great farmers market with locally grown peaches and apples.

There was also a fun find in the form of Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium! What an amazing collection of elephants indoors and outdoors! If you visit, make sure to try the fudge!

So much to learn and see through 3D researching!

Coming soon to Mystic, CT!

Always great to be working back at the Mystic Seaport Museum!

A new exhibit in the Thompson Gallery opens May 28th!

Check out their website for more info on "Story Boats - The Tales They Tell."

Here's an excerpt of the exhibit write up:

Mystic Seaport Museum has more than 450 small watercraft as well as a fleet of larger historic vessels tethered to our docks along the Mystic River, four of which are designated National Historic Landmarks. As a whole, these vessels represent an extraordinary array of design, purpose, and materials beginning in the early 19th century to the present, from dugout canoes to duck boats to Boston Whalers and everything in between and beyond. What ties these boats together thematically, and is the inspiration for the exhibition Story Boats: The Tales They Tell, is the remarkable richness of human interest stories behind them, which include themes of hope, exploration, survival, joy, adventure, sport, immigration, and many others.

Project Preview: Art Complex Museum

The Art Complex Museum located in Duxbury, MA is the permanent home of the art and object collection, as well as the reference library, of Carl A. Weyerhaeuser and his wife Edith Greenleaf Weyerhaeuser. Abernathy Lighting Design (ALD), a studio of Eos Lightmedia USA, is proud to have worked with Proun Design to bring to life the new Founders Gallery; a deeper dive into the lives and history of the Weyerhaeusers and their collection.

Working with small format LED spotlights, integrated LED lighting systems within the exhibit structures, and a small expansion to the base building lighting systems, ALD was able to bring into focus the story of these amazing collectors and highlight some of the signature pieces which now reside in the museum's collection.

The museum opens to the public on May 22nd. If you are ever in eastern Massachusetts we hope you will stop in!

In the palm of your hand...

Technology has made so many strides in the last several years... We're currently working on site and we can control the fixtures in the palm of our hands!

Here's our friend Dave programming the light using his cell phone. Each luminaire once hung and named are then programmed into the system.

Mystic Seaport - Panorama Exhibit

If you find yourself in Mystic, CT and you're looking for something else to visit, this is the final week for The Grand Panorama Exhibit at the Mystic Seaport Museum.
We designed and focused this exhibit back in the Spring of 2021 and we hope everyone who's visited has enjoyed it so far!

The Panorama scrolls, on loan from the New Bedford Whaling Museum, are the focal point of the exhibit and the crux of the lighting design. ALD worked with the museum team to provide a hot-spot free, even wash of light at archivally appropriate lighting levels to ensure that this amazing cloth and pigment artifact could be preserved for generations to come.

Check out their website to learn more about the exhibit!

Beyond Van Gogh

In this hectic crazy time with all the noise around us, it was an amazing experience Chris and I had going to the Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.

We allowed ourselves to relax and enjoy the immersive experience and we really loved watching others enjoy it – this art installation lifted our spirits and reminded us of how important art is in our lives!

What art installation, live event, or museum have you visited lately that felt extra special?
