Rhode Island Monthly Award - Gaige Hall

The Gaige Hall renovation at Rhode Island College recently won a "High Impact - Silver" award from Rhode Island Monthly Magazine! According to the October issue of the magazine, "The jurists felt the impact of the final product was a testament to the success of the design's concept, which was based on simple materials: windows, walls, ceilings, and floors done in the right proportion... The building is now a welcoming, light-filled space that facilitates the teaching and learning needs of the campus community."

Kudos to all involved and check out more about the winning projects on Rhode Island Monthly's website!

Congrats to the National Soccer Hall of Fame!

The American Alliance of Museums Media and Technology Network’s awarded the National Soccer Hall of Fame the Gold Muse Award for Research and Innovation for its “Facial Recognition Personalization Software” at their recent Awards night.

This technology installation allows a personalized tour of the museum. When a patron arrives, they fill out information about their favorite soccer teams and level of fandom. As the patron tours the museum, their face is recognized as they approach different exhibits and the display is tailored to reflect that person's interests!

Kudos to the entire team who worked on the project, including Healy Kohler Design and Cortina Productions. We were honored to be a part of such a ground breaking project.

To learn more, check out the National Soccer Hall of Fame's website.

The Marriage of Bette & Boo

Kathy and Chris recently worked on the lighting design for one of Rhode Island College's Mainstage Theatre productions, The Marriage of Bette & Boo by Christopher Durang.

The career of most ALD employees began in the theatre and it's always nice to get back to our roots!

Directed by Connie Crawford, the story followed the protagonist (Matt) down memory lane as he deals with his family's dysfunction. The show ran February 20-24 in the Helen Forman Theatre. Photos by Kate Noel Artistry.

Happy Opening - Fifth Third Bank!

Last Wednesday, Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, OH opened a museum on the ground floor of its headquarters building on Fountain Square to honor the bank’s 161-year history.

The Fifth Third Museum features exhibits to commemorate milestones in the bank’s history, such as the creation of Jeanie, the first shared online ATM network that Fifth Third launched in 1977. The exhibits were designed by Jack Rouse Associates (JRA) and we collaborated on the lighting design for the installations.

The Holocaust & Humanity Center

Check out this sneak peak at the Holocaust & Humanity Center, which just commemorated it's grand opening to the public last weekend.

The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center exists to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust inspire action today. HHC educates about the Holocaust, remembers its victims and acts on its lessons. Through innovative programs and partnerships, HHC challenges injustice, inhumanity and prejudice, and fosters understanding, inclusion and engaged citizenship.

Here are some photos from Jason's on site visit.
